I've always liked the idea of having a badge system nicely showcased in-game.

Luckily. The advancements system actually is rather robust and allows you to modify it to do stuff like showcase what you need to unlock certain advancements (badges).
There is even a keybind for it (L by default)

You can clear the vanilla achievements entirely. Then with some work/coding. Have cross server synced advancements where players can work towards collecting all badges.
As a very simple badge. You can have something like "Trash collector" by collecting all 48 trash items while fishing. Treasure hunter for collecting all 27 treasures. Etc

Within the advancements system. You can showcase progress. You can also put different branches of advancements into different categories. You could have separate pages for the hub, fishing, SND, etc.
SND can have stuff like achieving certain kill streaks with kits. Or a badge for certain killstreak milestones in general.


And with SND you could even migrate the quest system into it. Allowing users to check their progress mid-game. You would do the same to showcase fishing item collection progress.


When it comes to individual kit quests. It's still relatively easy to split them up and showcase the induvial kit's progression. Since branches can remain right next to each other if they don't have additional paths


A good potential resource that could save a developer a lot of time is to use plugin: https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/crazy-advancements-api.51741/ So you don't have to implement everything from scratch. It's also open source if you just need an example, or are worried about it being discontinued.
